Stoke Series Live is a new, adventure storytelling event and fundraiser for the National Ability Center and it’s happening this week in Park City.
The storytelling event is happening this Friday evening at the Shop yoga studio. It starts with beverages, gourmet small plates, and a preview of new outdoor gear. The storytelling begins at 7.
Paul Tew, the Creative Director at Backcountry, says the partnership with the National Ability works well with Backcountry’s mission.
“Part of the mission of Backcountry,” said Tew, “is to make sure that everyone can get outside. Working with a group like the National Ability Center is a dream. We saw an opportunity and wanted to invite them to be part of our team and us to be a part of them.”
The Stoke Series Live is for outdoor influencers – those who talk about their pursuits in a unique way on social media in s live storytelling event – similar to existing radio programs.
“The Stoke Series Live is an opportunity for them to come and tell their story, I guess, Moth style or sort or kind of a Spoken Word,” said Tew.”
10 adventurous souls will share stories of how they’ve overcome a barrier between themselves and nature. The event will be hosted by Sarah Herron, an adaptive athlete and founder of SheLift.
Some of the storytellers include local ski mountaineer and social activist Caroline Gliech, a medal-winning adaptive monoskier Saylor O’Brien,and Johnnie Gall, a climber and surfer.
