Summit and Wasatch Counties Continue to See Rise In COVID-19 Cases

As new COVID-19 cases in Utah continue to stay high, the majority of the cases are from Salt Lake and Utah Counties. But Summit and Wasatch Counties are also contributing to this spike in cases.

Wasatch County saw its highest number of new daily COVID-19 cases on Saturday. The county had 16 new cases. On Sunday it saw another 12 new cases.

The Utah Department of Health also reported a new COVID-19 related death of a Wasatch County resident on Saturday. The man was between 65-85 years old and a resident at a long term care facility. The new death brings the county’s total to eight since the beginning of the pandemic.

Summit County did not see any new deaths over the weekend and they’ve reported one death since the beginning of the pandemic. The county saw 10 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday and 20 on Sunday.

The state reported 1,393 new cases on Sunday. And its 7-day rolling average is 998 new cases per day.
