The Summit County Council met with Snyderville Planning Commissioners last week—and passed on some advice about how the Planning Commission should deliberate on items
Council members asked the planners not to spend too much time “over-analyzing”. We asked County Manager Tom Fisher what they meant by that. He said it relates to a couple of things.
“There are going to be hairy issues associated with some of the things that are coming up. For instance, the Kimball Junction neighborhood plan. It will have issues with it that perhaps the public don’t agree with, or the planning commission doesn’t agree with or just doesn’t know what to do with in relation to its current development agreement for instance. If there are those items that need to have more policy level discussion from the council, don’t dwell on those too long. Bring it forward and let the council discuss it and see if they can get to some more sound conclusions to those things. Its really about not probably taking too much time on things or more time than is necessary. That’s not for me to judge its for the planning commission and staff to judge.”
We also asked what’s the status for the plans of Mountain lands Housing Trust to place affordable units in Silver Creek Village.
“I don’t want to speak for the Mountainlands Organization at all. I understand they’re still working on financing of their first project which is 90-100 units that will be a deed restricted condo development. There’s another application that’s working its way through that would possibly change the concept of using townhouses to some kind of condo development. I don’t know anything beyond that one on that subject I’ve just been made aware of it by Pat Putt.”
