Sunday COVID-19 Update: 281 Cases Statewide, No New Cases In Summit County

Sunday’s COVID-19 case count in Utah was up compared to last week’s. But numbers in the Wasatch Back have continued to decrease.

 

The Utah Department of Health announced 281 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, which is around 30 more cases than the state saw at the same time last week. 

In the Wasatch Back, Summit County’s case count was down week over week, the county reported no new cases Sunday. Last week, Summit saw four. Wasatch County reported two new cases, which is half as many as last Sunday. 

There were 4,096 people tested for the first time statewide, with 6,899 total tests administered. On average 3% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the average percent positivity for “people over people” is just over 6%.  

Utah’s Department of Health reported two new deaths. To date, 2,182 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including 12 from Summit County and 21 from Wasatch County.

The department also reported 15 new hospitalizations. There are 157 people in the hospital for COVID-19 in the state. 

There were 7,518 people vaccinated for COVID-19 since Saturday, bringing the number to 2,039,298 total doses administered. 

Summit County has administered 42,683 total vaccines and Wasatch has given out 21,391 doses. Both counties are registering to vaccinate residents 16 years or older.
