Sunday COVID-19 Update: 7-Day Rolling Average At 400 Daily Cases Statewide

Utah’s 6-day rolling average of daily COVID-19 cases now at 400 per day -the lowest it’s been since September.   

The Utah Department of Health announced 344 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, which is 45 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week.

In the Wasatch Back, Summit County’s case count was down week over week, the county reported five new cases Sunday. Last week, Summit saw seven. 

Wasatch County reported five new cases, which is the same number of cases the county saw last Sunday. 

There were 5,216 people tested for the first time statewide, with 9,210 total tests administered. 

On average just over 3% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the average percent positivity for “people over people” is 7%.  

Utah’s Department of Health reported no new deaths. To date, 2,132 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including 11 from Summit County and 21 from Wasatch County.

The department also reported 15 new hospitalizations. There are 129 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 70% of all referral center ICU beds are in use.

There were 14,350 people vaccinated for COVID-19 since Saturday, bringing the number to 1,495,713 total doses administered. 

Summit County has administered 31,812 total vaccines and Wasatch has given out 16,200 doses. Both counties are registering to vaccinate residents 18 years or older.
