Sunday COVID-19 Update: 701 New Cases Statewide, 5 In Summit County, 8 In Wasatch

Utah has seen less than 1,000 new daily COVID-19 cases for eight of the last nine days. The statewide 7-day rolling average for new COVID-19 cases now sits at 777 per day.

The Utah Department of Health announced 701 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, which is about the same amount of cases as last week.

Summit County reported five new cases, In comparison, last Sunday, Summit saw 14. 

Wasatch County reported eight new cases. Last Sunday, the county saw five.  

There were 5,477 people tested for the first time, with 10,454 total tests administered. The statewide 7-day rolling average of percent positivity for “tests over tests” is around 6%. 

Utah’s Department of Health reported 10 new deaths, but noted that seven of the deaths were from before Feb. 1. To date, 1,852 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including eight from Summit County and 19 from Wasatch County.

The department reported 24 new hospitalizations. There are 242 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Just over 76% of all referral center ICU beds are in use. 

A reported, 9,123 people were vaccinated for COVID-19 since Saturday, bringing the total number to 607,557 doses administered. Both Summit and Wasatch Counties are registering to vaccinate residents 65-years or older.
