Sunday COVID-19 Update: 908 New Cases Statewide, 8 Cases in Summit County, 4 in Wasatch

  As COVID-19 cases continue to decline, Summit and Wasatch County are also seeing a decrease in cases.

The Utah Department of Health announced 908 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, which is about 300 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week. 

The state reported an increase of 5,845 new tests administered. On average, about 16% of tests are coming back positive statewide, which is down from Saturday’s average. 

Summit County reported 8 new cases. In comparison, last Sunday Summit County saw 25 cases.

Wasatch County reported 4 new cases. Last Sunday, Wasatch saw 9.

Utah’s Department of Health reported three new deaths. To date, 1,736 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including seven from Summit County and 17 from Wasatch County.

There are 329people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Statewide, around 86% of referral center ICU beds are in use. 

A reported, 9,852 people were vaccinated for COVID-19 since Saturday, bringing the total number to 413,937 doses administered. Both Summit and Wasatch Counties are registering to vaccinate residents 70-years or older.
