Sunday COVID-19 Update: Utah Has Seen Almost 375,000 Cases, Day After The Anniversary of First Case

Utah saw its first COVID-19 case March 6, 2020. Just over a year later, the state has seen almost 375,000 cases.

Week over week cases throughout the state continue to decrease. The Utah Department of Health announced 412 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, which is about 50 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week. 

There were 4,427 people tested for the first time, with 8,818 total tests administered. 

On average just over 4% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the average percent positivity for “people over people” is about 9%.  

Summit County reported three new cases, In comparison, last Sunday, Summit saw eight. 

Wasatch County reported four new cases, which is the same as last Sunday. 

Utah’s Department of Health reported one new death. To date, 1,976 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including 10 from Summit County and 20 from Wasatch County.

The department also reported 24 new hospitalizations. There are 191 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 76% of all referral center ICU beds are in use.

A reported, 12,631 people were vaccinated for COVID-19 since Saturday, bringing the total number to 855,663 doses administered.
