Utah has surpassed one million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered in the state.
There were 15,861 people vaccinated for COVID-19 since Saturday. Of the more than one million doses, almost 17,700 were administered in Summit County and around 10,500 were in Wasatch County.
While the state has reached this significant milestone, new cases have started to plateau. The Utah Department of Health announced 396 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, which is 16 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week.
In the Wasatch Back, Summit County reported five new cases. In comparison, last Sunday, Summit saw three.
Wasatch County reported one new case. Last Sunday the county saw four.
There were 4,089 people tested for the first time, with 7,397 total tests administered.
On average just over 4% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive. The average percent positivity for “people over people” is about 8.5%.
Utah’s Department of Health reported six new deaths. To date,more than 2,027 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including 10 from Summit County and 20 from Wasatch County.
The department also reported 19 new hospitalizations. There are 167 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 73% of all referral center ICU beds are in use.
