Traffic To Heber Valley Hospital Redirected During Construction

Intermountain Health Care

The traditional entrance to the Heber Valley Hospital is closing as part of the hospital’s construction updates.

For years those trying to get to the Heber Valley Hospital would turn on 1500 South before turning left on a private road that would bring patrons to the hospital. Now that private road has been closed as the hospital continues its expansion construction.

Hospital officials are now asking patients to travel along 1200 South before turning onto 500 East which will feed into the North Eastern entrance.

A map of the road can be found on KPCW’s Website.

Heber Valley Hospital Communications Director Amy Tuddenham says once the construction is complete patients will be able to access the hospital from both points.

“It’s imperative that we have this campus road completed before winter hits again. So that's why we're closing the road right now so we can begin the infrastructure of building that Ring Road. We’ll eventually wrap around the entire hospital, so the main campus of the hospital plus the South building.”

Those who forget the change won’t be stranded on 1500 South in an emergency.

“There is a little emergency egress that will take patients through the back dock of the hospital and then put them into the parking lot where they need to get into the hospital. Because that's such a small area, we really do prefer that we begin to change patterns and people come up 1200 S to 500 E and then into the hospital parking lot.”

Tuddenham says that the hospital update is going well.

“Same-day surgery is being built out as are the new clinics which will have our family practice and internal medicine positions there. So, those are the big pieces and then just a couple of weeks ago we started the cafeteria and the new main entrance. In July will start to open pieces of these areas of construction and because we're doing—besides just building new space—we’re renovating most of our space, it causes a domino effect.”

Tuddenham says they hope to open same-day surgery in July, the clinics in late August, and the main entrance and new café in the fall.

“We know it’s challenging right now, but we're grateful for the patients that are coming in and being patient with us. Because we're still providing incredible care for our patients. All of our offices are still open. It's just changing that behavior to come through a different entrance. We just appreciate the patience as we're building.”
