Tuesday COVID-19 Update: 327 Cases Statewide, Single Digit Cases in Summit and Wasatch

  For the fourth day in a row new COVID-19 cases were up week over week.

The Utah Department of Health announced 327 new COVID-19 cases, which is roughly 10 more cases than the state saw at the same time last week. The 7-day rolling average for new cases is 391 per day, up around 15 compared to last week. 

In the Wasatch Back, Summit County reported eight new cases, more than twice as many as last week, when the county reported three. Wasatch County reported two new cases - the same as last Tuesday.  

There were 4,730 people tested for the first time statewide, with 13,152 total tests administered. On average around 3% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the average percent positivity for “people over people” is roughly 6%. 

Utah’s Department of Health reported three new deaths. To date, 2,186 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including 12 from Summit County and 21 from Wasatch County.

The department also reported 28 new hospitalizations. There are 137 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 69% of all referral center ICU beds are in use.

There were 19,908 people vaccinated for COVID-19 since Monday, bringing the total number to 1,916,922 doses administered. 

Summit County has administered 43,042 total vaccines and Wasatch has given out 21,498 doses.

Both counties are in the moderate level of Utah’s COVID-19 transmission index
