Tuesday COVID-19 Update: 371 New Cases Statewide, 14 In Summit County, 3 in Wasatch

The past two days Utah saw an increase in daily COVID-19 cases week over week, but Tuesday the state reported a slight decrease.

The Utah Department of Health announced 371 new COVID-19 cases, which is about 10 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week. The 7-day rolling average for new cases is 424 per day.

In the Wasatch Back, Summit County reported 14 new cases. In comparison last Tuesday the county saw 20.

Wasatch County reported three new cases - which is the same number of cases the county saw last Tuesday.  

There were 5,113 people tested for the first time statewide, with 14,696 total tests administered. On average over 3% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the average percent positivity for “people over people” is just under 7%. 

Utah’s Department of Health reported four new deaths, but noted that one of the deaths happened before March 1. To date, 2,118 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including 11 from Summit County and 21 from Wasatch County.

The department also reported 29 new hospitalizations. There are 134 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 63% of all referral center ICU beds are in use, the lowest it’s been since August of last year.

There were around 24,329 people vaccinated for COVID-19 since Monday, bringing the total number to 1,331,862 doses administered. 

Summit County has administered 27,112 total vaccines and Wasatch has given out 14,211 doses. Both counties are registering to vaccinate residents 16 years or older.
