Tuesday COVID-19 Update: Third Day in a Row With Less Than 1,000 New Daily Cases Statewide

For the third day in a row, Utah has seen less than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases.

  

 

The Utah Department of Health announced 918 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, which is about 300 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week.

There were 6,133 people tested for the first time, with around 18,409 total tests administered. 

The statewide 7-day rolling average of percent positivity for “people over people” is around 15%. And 7.2% of “tests over tests” are positive on average. These new measures account for people who have repeatedly taken tests after getting a positive or negative result. 

Summit County reported 17 new cases, which the same case count Summit saw last Tuesday. 

Wasatch County reported 4 new cases. In comparison, last Tuesday, the county saw 8.  

Utah’s Department of Health reported ten new deaths. To date, 1,748 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including seven from Summit County and 17 from Wasatch County.

Utah’s Department of Health reported 61 new hospitalizations. There are 319 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Statewide, around 77% of referral center ICU beds are in use. 

A reported, 8,674 people were vaccinated for COVID-19 since Monday, bringing the total number to 425,698 doses administered. Both Summit and Wasatch Counties are registering to vaccinate residents 70-years or older.
