Wasatch County reported its 27 COVID-19 death on Friday.

Friday’s Wasatch County death was reported to be a young female between the ages of 15 and 24, who was not hospitalized at the time of her death.

The Utah Department of Health reported seven other statewide deaths, bringing Utah’s COVID-19 death toll to 2,787.

The health department reported over 1,700 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the rolling seven-day average of positive cases to 1,574, it’s highest level since late January.

433 of Friday’s cases were school-aged children under the age of 18, according to the health department.

Wasatch County reported 13 new cases on Friday, Summit County saw 18.

There are currently 592 Utahns in the hospital with COVID-19. Over 95% of statewide ICU beds are currently occupied.

63% of eligible Utahns over the age of 12 are fully vaccinated. In Wasatch County, it’s 61%, and in Summit County, that number is 82%.

Health officials continue to urge unvaccinated individuals to speak with a trusted healthcare provider about the vaccine. A free vaccination location can be found here.
