Ronald Winterton (R) and Eileen Gallagher (D) won their primaries for State Senate District 26. They will face each other in the November election for retiring Senator Kevin Van Tassell's seat. In the Republican race, Park City resident Jack Rubin won handily in Summit and Wasatch Counties, but Winterton got more votes in Duchesne and Uintah Counties. Gallagher defeated challenger Pat Vaughn by only ten votes in Wasatch County, but dominated the race in the other counties. State Senate District 26 covers Summit, Wasatch, Daggett, Duschesne and Uintah counties.
