Woodward Park City Opens This Weekend

Woodward Park City

POWDR company’s new year-round action sports and ski resort opens this weekend.

Woodward’s 125-acre Park City campus will be home to outdoor ski/snowboard and tubing venues. Senior Marketing Manager Tucker Norred adds that the campus also has a large building that will provide opportunities for indoor action sports.

“We’re going to have all kinds of innovative environments out on the hill,” Norred explained. “We've got things for never ever’s all the way through Olympic hopefuls out on the hill. We can have you starting to learn to ski or snowboard all the way up to training in our 22-foot Olympic halfpipe. Indoors we've got a 66,000 square foot facility. Ramps into foam pits, trampolines and an indoor concrete park for all wheeled sports.”

Woodward Park City will be open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm 365 days a year. The facility’s free grand opening will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm this Saturday.

“There's going to be demos in all of our zones,” Norred said. “We're going to have the biggest and best pros in the world. Tony Hawk is coming out, we've got Travis Pastrana, Ken Block, and even local heroes like Sage Kotsenburg. You can even ask an athlete; we’ll have a panel. We’ll have GoPro skydiver flying in. There's a lot of amazing stuff going down on our grand opening day.”

The grand opening will include free tours, music by celebrity DJ Santigold and even access to some of the parks features for $20. Norred recommends those driving to the opening park in the Ecker Hill Park n Ride where the bus and shuttles will be available to take people to the event. Woodward Park City has also been added to the city’s bus system on the Pink line.

Woodward Park City General Manager Shaydar Edlemann says the resort will have monthly memberships available as well as classes and camps.

“Safe progression is really what we're all about. We have innovative environments. We have soft surfaces, gymnastics air awareness foundations, airbags, foam pits, intuitive progression set up. Our parks are designed to start on something, practice something, learn it, go to the next level. So safe progression is really at the root of what we do.”
