The Park City Planning Commission is having a work session Wednesday to parse through an upcoming development that’s part of the original Deer Valley master planned development approval. The 40-acre, 15-unit subdivision is called “Hunstman Estates.”

The Park City Board of Adjustment voted to reverse a decision by the planning commission regarding Park City Municipal’s Woodside Park Phase II. 

The Park City Board of Adjustment met Tuesday to consider an appeal of the Woodside Park Phase II affordable housing project. The appeal is based on the planning commission’s approval of reduced setbacks. Under the land management code, the planning commission can reduce setbacks from the master planned development-required 25 feet to the underlying zone’s requirements, if it’s necessary to provide architectural interest.

The Park City Planning Commission will consider an Empire Pass condominium project during Wednesday’s planning commission meeting. It’s another item in the Empire Pass area that has come up under the Flagstaff Development Agreement this year, triggering conversations about developers’ responsibilities for historic preservation.

As KPCW has reported, Anne Laurent will leave her position as Park City Municipal Community Development Director at the beginning of November, to begin work as the public works director for her previous employer, Los Alamos County, New Mexico. One division Laurent oversees under community development is the Park City Planning Department.

After recently updating Park City’s annexation policy plan and expansion map, Park City Municipal is moving forward with the next steps toward bringing land into city limits. 

Park City Planning Director Bruce Erickson says, currently, the city is only considering annexing two pieces of city-owned property and property unintended for development within unincorporated Summit County.

The Woodside Park Phase II housing development has been appealed for a second time, after the Park City Planning Commission reaffirmed its approval of the project’s master planned development application. 

After approving the Woodside Park Phase II master planned development application in May, Park City Municipal, as applicant for the project, ran into a hurdle when one neighbor appealed the decision.
