The Wasatch County Health Department updated officials on the increasing COVID-19 case counts and hospital utilization and ICU trends.

During the interlocal meeting on Wednesday night, county and municipal officials were told that with the number of positive COVID-19 cases continuing upward, there will be a delayed impact on the area hospitals.  Regional ICU beds are not at capacity now but staffing them is a bigger concern. Wasatch County Council Chair Danny Goode asked Public Health Director Randall Probst for clarification on ICU staffing.

Under Utah’s new COVID-19 metrics, Wasatch County is now at a HIGH level of transmission. The County Council heard from the public health department during Wednesday’s meeting.

The Wasatch County Council heard Wednesday that COVID-19 cases are increasing, and public health is working hard to keep up with contact tracing and identifying infection sources. Statewide case hit a record 1500 on Thursday.

Wasatch County Council’s Chair announced his resignation from the council yesterday.


The Wasatch County Council last week took the first steps to put an open space bond election before voters, but first wants to engage the now-defunct open space committee before committing to anything.  KPCW's Leslie Thatcher has more:

On Wednesday, the Wasatch County Council reversed its stance and has now agreed to financially support Park City's effort to Save Bonanza Flat. Leslie Thatcher has more.

A member of the Wasatch County Council is asking his colleagues to consider a contribution to save Bonanza Flat – the nearly 14-hundred acres that are in Wasatch County and Park City is hoping to purchase.  In a tweet on April 7, Wasatch County Council member Danny Goode gave his followers a heads up that the request would be on the agenda for April 12th.
