Dave Pacheco with the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance talks about a public meeting being held August 29th at the Salt Lake City Public Library to discuss the Emery County Public Lands Management Act.

Senator Orrin Hatch and Congressman John Curtis have co-authored a bill entitled,  The Emery County Public Land Management Act of 2018.  Emery County is home to world class wilderness landscapes such as San Rafael Swell, Desolation Canyon and Goblin Valley State Park.  Dave Pacheco, grassroots organizer from the Southern Utah Wilderness Association,  joins Chris and Nell to give us SUWA's  thoughts and positions on this proposed bill.

Both the Southern Wilderness Alliance and the Sierra Club are helping to host the People's Energy Summit this weekend in Salt Lake City. It's a gathering designed to highlight the wealth of renewable energy alternatives this state has to offer. Dave Pacheco from SUWA and Lindsay Beebe of the Sierra Club join Chris and Lynn in this segment to discuss this event and some legislative bills that may have an impact on our environment.  

Last Thursday, Department of Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke sent recommendations to the White House that included scaling back some of the most prominent national monuments created in the past decades.

Gemma Tillack from the Rain Forest Action Network joins Chris and Nell in the first half of the program to discuss Palm Oil Plantations, Conflict Oil and what we can do to reduce our use of palm oil based products. In the second half of the program, Piper Christian, a student at Logan High School talks about a resolution she helped draft and present to the Utah State Legislature on climate change.  Dave Pacheco of SUWA joins in the conversation.
