First responders dealt with a fire in Wasatch County this weekend near the Deer Creek Reservoir.

Wasatch County Fire and Wasatch County Sheriff’s office report the fire burned a total of 57 acres over the weekend.

The brush fire was reported at 3:00 pm Saturday afternoon, near the intersection of State Highways 189 and 113. That’s in the Charleston area. Highway 189 was temporarily closed in both directions but was open again by Saturday night.

The truck hauling butane has crashed into Deer Creek Reservoir.

The truck went into the lake near where Charleston Road meets US 189. Utah Highway Patrol reports that the driver is uninjured

Wasatch County Fire hazmat unit is on hand for cleanup and containment.

An active fire is burning near the Deer Creek dam. According to eye-witness accounts, the fire started a bit before Noon. Although unconfirmed it appears as if the train started the fire. Crews, including several helicopters, are actively working to fight the fire. KPCW will update this story as we have more information.

Algae Bloom in Deer Creek Reservoir Calls for Warnings

The Utah Department of Environmental Quality was doing some routine Ecoli testing when a staff member noticed an algae problem in a small area near the Island Marina at Deer Creek Reservoir.    The Wasatch County Department of Environmental Quality and the Central Utah Water Conservancy District worked together on site and found an isolated area of toxic algae blooms.  Carolyn Murray has more:
