Extell Development Company

One of New York City’s most significant developers, Gary Barnett and his development company Extell, is now firmly planted here in Utah as one of the largest property owners in Wasatch County. What was once sheep grazing and mining lands, the property known as Mayflower is now slated to be a premier resort village with hotels, conference space and recreational amenities.  

Summit County Council member, Chris Robinson talks about the Central Wasatch Commission, the federal governments Public Land Initiative and the Jeremy Ranch Round-About construction set to begin on June 10th. The LNH included Leslie Thatcher’s  exclusive interview with Gary Barnett who is the founder and chairman of Extell Development Company. This is the  2300 acre Wasatch County project at the Mayflower exit on the west side of US 40.

The owner of the massive Mayflower Mountain development is secretly suing two local residents and their company as the master plan for this new resort development moves through the final planning approvals. 

The lawsuit was filed last October by Extell Development Company and BLX Land corporation against a former Extell employee Van Hemeyer, his business partner Diana Swaner, and their company Blue Ledge Resort.

While the project is still in the planning process with Wasatch County, representatives for the Extell Development Company made a rare appearance before members of the Heber Valley Chamber of Commerce Tuesday to give them a glimpse of what's to come. Leslie Thatcher has this report.
