Midway City Council met Tuesday night with afull agenda. They discussed a couple of annexations, received an update on mental health resources and the city's financial state.

A construction project on River Road will mean detours on the Midway thoroughfare starting Monday.

Midway Almost Certain To Put Open Space Out To Voters

Midway City is close to issuing a bond referendum for open space conservation.  If the City Council approves of the initiative, it will be on November’s ballot. Midway also faces the pending loss of a City Resort Tax amounting to $1.2 million in revenues.  Carolyn Murray has this:

An agreement was signed between Heber Light and Power and Rocky Mountain Power in April to install high voltage transmission lines through the Heber Valley and in to a new substation to be located in Midway.  In recent weeks, 2000 people have signed a petition asking the agencies and local authorities to put a hold on the project while the public has a chance to weigh in.  Carolyn Murray has this:

The city of Midway held a three way primary in August with all female candidates running for mayor.  With the general election next month, the 10 year resident challenging the incumbent thinks she can bring a new perspective to handling the growth pressures in Midway.    Carolyn Murray has this: 

Midway City

The Midway City Council is holding a special meeting on Thursday to decide whether to put an open space bond on November's ballot.

The special meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 17th at 6pm in the city council chambers.  Although the council was scheduled to meet on August 23rd, Mayor Collen Bonner says she'll be gone as well as some of the council members, so if the council wants to put this on this November's ballot, they have to make a decision before the August 25th deadline.

In June, the City of Midway put in place a moratorium on subdivision applications. They have six months to make changes to the code.  Carolyn Murray has more on this.  

Three Midway Women Running For Mayor

In a state where only 20 women serve in the 104-member-Legislature, it’s unique to have a small, rural town like Midway, produce three female candidates for mayor.  Because only two names can be on the general election ballot, a primary will happen in just two weeks.  Carolyn Murray has more.
