The Morning Mix

Today on The Morning Mix, Christopher Parker performs live.  Christie and JW visit with  Tana  Toly  and Alayna Hurt from the DeJoria Center,  about the concerts and events scheduled at the Kamas-valley venue this summer, including Air Supply and Leftover Salmon this month.   Also a conversation with singer, songwriter and musician Rickie Lee Jones, who is performing  at Egyptian Theatre Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this weekend. Friday On The Morning Mix, multi-instrumentalist Andrew Cole performed live. Spencer Bryne from All Season’s Adventures talked about spring, outdoor recreational activities and how all this rain effects the trails, rivers, and fishing. Kirsten Fox and Penny Frates of Fox School of Wine  talked about various wine adventures offered in and around town, especially some ideas for locals. On The Morning Mix , ‘Fiddle Preacher’-Bronwen Beecher is the  in-studio musical guest throughout the show. The Timpanogas Belvederes Improv troupe stops by  talking about their upcoming show in Heber on Saturday night and we’ll get the lowdown on the Ogden Music Festival, which takes place next weekend at Fort Buenaventura outside Ogden and features Mavis Staples, Band of Heathens, The Shook Twins, and Pixie and The Partygrass Boys, among other acts, classes, craft, and camping. Today on  Morning Mix,  in-studio musical guest Branson Anderson plays throughout the hour, as well as interviews with Dr. G, Community Outreach Coordinator for Latino families at Park City High School and the adviser for the Mexican Folkloric Dance troupe performing Friday at Ecker Hill Middle School. Also, they visit with  musician Sean Kelly of The Samples, who will be performing Saturday night at OP Rockwell. All that and a thorough rundown of weekend events.

On today’s show Christie and guest cohost John Burdick have musician Rick Gerber in the studio. He talks about his latest venture, a new Led Zeppelin band he is forming. Mountain Town Music’s Brian Richards stops by to talk about the summer concert schedule and The owner of the Cabin, John Olsen, and the GM, Junior Richards, are in to talk about the grand opening of the Cabin’s new space in the middle of Main Street this Sunday. All this and what events are going on in and around town today.

On today's  Morning Mix, local musician Kid Brother  performs live on the program. World-famous skier and local resident, Picabo Street is in with up-and-coming, world-class swimmer and local student, Audrey McDonald, to talk about the lives of  top-notch athletes, training at altitude, and the sports/school balance-how to make it all work. Also cast members from Timpanogas Valley Theatre talk about their production of The Music Man, which opens Friday and runs for the next 3 weekends. All that and a thorough rundown of weekend events.

This Morning's musical guests were members of the band Moodlite. Interview guests included Scott Iwasaki, editor of The Park Record newspaper’s annual Park City Parent Guide supplement, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Richie Furay, original member of Buffalo Springfield and Poco, who is performing April 12-14 at Egyptian Theatre.

Live music this morning on the Morning Mix featured Ogden-based musician Morgan Thomas ; a conversation with Renee Huang of the Deer Valley Music Festival announcing their summer schedule and Locals-Only tickets pre-sale day on Saturday, and a thorough rundown of weekend events in our area.

Our musical guest in the studio is Katie Ainge, making her Morning Mix debut performing live throughout the program. We also speak with Stacey Eaton, Concert Master and Orchestra President of Heber Valley Orchestra, and with Sarah Clarke, lead singer of the Portland, OR-based soul revivalist band, Dirty Revival, who are performing March 23rd at OP Rockwell.

JW and  Christie are joined by local musician and PCHS graduate, Courtney Spaulding in the studio from 9-10 am; and also by phone from London with British pop musician, Howard Jones, who’s performing March 21st at The Eccles Theater in Salt Lake as the Howard Jones Acoustic Trio;  and by members of the cast of the original musical “Sudan & Me”, to premiere  this Friday & Saturday at the Rockwell Room on Main St. All that entertainment plus a rundown of weekend events.

On The Morning Mix this week, our musical guest is local singer, songwriter, and music teacher Bill McGinnis performing original songs on the ukelele and guitar. To celebrate International Women's Day, Renee Huang of Wild Women Tribe is on talking about her Women Who Wander event on Saturday, and Peter Beckett, singer the 70's soft rock hit "Baby Come Back" is on talking about his shows this weekend at Egyptian Theatre along with his experiences in Rock and Roll history. 

Today on The Morning Mix, listen in for a guest interview with performer Vincent Niclo, a singer of many styles who has performed with some of the world’s biggest superstars including Placido Domingo, Celine Dion, and Michael Buble. He is currently touring with Sarah Brightman and will be performing with her at Abravenel Hall next Thursday, March 7. Also Sr Communications Specialist for Park City Mountain Resort, Jessica Miller,  is in to  detail Saturday’s Silver Summits Challenge, a self-directed ski race encompassing all seven summits of the resort in one day.

Today on #The Morning Mix, Shawn Colvin talks about her musical career and background, as well as her shows at Egyptian Theatre this weekend; Lauren Willy, Volunteer Manager for the National Ability Center, is on to tell us how YOU can be involved supporting their programs and their Red, White & Snow event;  and musical guest Mel Soul  joins the crew in the studio to perform live throughout the hour. On today’s The Morning Mix JW and Christie will speak with musician Cris Jacobs, who will be performing with his band on the Canyons Village stage Saturday for apres ski followed by fireworks for the President’s Day weekend crowds; and with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Mary Wilson, a best -selling author, singer, and performer extradinaire who was a founding member of the 1960’s Motown hitmakers The Supremes.  She’ll be performing this weekend at Egyptian Theatre. The in-studio local musical guest this week will be Alicia Stockman.
