Transient room tax, or TRT, revenue comes from lodging sales taxes, and state law heavily restricts its uses. Summit County Manager Tom Fisher estimates the county has $11 million in TRT funding this year. The Park City Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau receives 70% of that total to use for marketing Summit County, while the county government receives 30% for items like the county fair, the history department and other tourism-related projects proposed by the community. 

 

No One Is Immune

While a Park City worker had the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Summit County, many others across the entire county have also been infected. County officials want everyone to know, they are not immune, just because they may live in the more rural areas of the county. 

According to Summit County Health Department, there are multiple positive cases of the coronavirus all over the county. Summit County Manager Tom Fisher says there’s a misconception, by some, that this is a Park City virus – but that simply is not the case.

Summit County government can’t close, in the wake of the outbreak of COVID-19.    But like many private operations, the county is scrambling to figure how it will operate.

The questions range from their meeting schedule in the next few weeks—to major goals over the next couple of years.
