A number of people driving cars have recently ventured and gotten stuck on snowmobile trails in Wasatch County.

As the snow begins to melt at the bottom of trails, car drivers will start their trek up paths meant for snowmobiles. A couple miles up the mountain - where temperatures are colder - there are still inches of snowpack, and cars eventually get stuck and can’t turn around.

An operation that resulted in the rescue of two Uintah County men concluded early Monday morning after the pair's snow machines got stuck in a steep canyon near the Wasatch-Duchesne County line.

 

Wasatch County Search and Rescue Captain Cam Kohler said the 29 and 31-year-old men were snowmobiling in the Soapstone area of the Uinta Mountains.

An injured mountain biker was rescued Sunday by Wasatch County emergency medical personnel and search and rescue crews. 

Dispatch received the 911 call just before 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon. Rescuers responded to an area above Wasatch Mountain State Park - on the WOW Trail - where the 49-year-old woman had crashed on her bike.

Utah State Parks, Wasatch County Sheriff's deputies, Search and Rescue, EMS, and Life Flight responded yesterday to an Off- Highway Vehicle roll over in Snake Creek Canyon in Wasatch County west of Midway.
