Full story: Multiple fire trucks raced to the Town Pointe condominium complex at 1000 Park Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

According to Greg Parks, HOA manager for Park City Lodging, which manages Town Pointe condos, the fire started in Building B on the second floor. The fire spread to the third floor and attic. Parks said the fire was caused by an electrical issue in a vacant unit.

Sarah Ellerbeck was at home in her unit next door when she was told to evacuate.

“I just packed up my stuff and came downstairs with my cat, and they said there was a fire in the fireplace — and it was a bad fire, obviously —  and it had gone up into the unit that was attached to it, and now it’s in the attic.”

She and her husband Ron, who moved recently to the condo from Houston, were waiting to be let into a building next door to escape the cold.

There are 17 units in the building. Everyone was evacuated. No injuries were reported.

A bus was sent to the scene to serve as a warm place for evacuees to stay until they could go back inside.
