The Wasatch County Sheriff's Office has shared an update about the accident involving a tour bus that killed a cyclist Friday.
Deputies said the bus was traveling uphill on Pine Canyon Road and the cyclist was riding downhill. The crash happened on a sharp, tight corner where the cyclist ended up under the bus.
The man was flown to the hospital in critical condition where he later died.
He has been identified as 68-year-old John E. Twitchell of Sandy.
The incident happened at about 10 a.m. Friday.
No one on the bus was injured.
The sheriff’s office is waiting for accident reconstruction results to determine exactly what happened.
Pine Canyon Road was closed from the Wasatch Mountain State Park entrance to the intersection of state Route 224 and Guardsman Pass Road for several hours.
The incident remains under investigation.
