At a time where most public organizataions are making strong statements in response to the recent ongoing protests in response to the killing of George Floyd, there are those calling for action beyond a statement. Fanny Guadalupe Blauer, board member for Artes de México en Utah and Cultural Outreach representative and Accountant for the Natural History Museum of Utah together with Vicky Lowe, artist and educator join us to discuss some of the important sociocultural realities and challenges that exist in eradicating prejudices, racism, and police brutality including having a better cultural and historical understanding of all our own indigenous ancestry, becoming more familiar with the history of this country regarding oppression of minorities, and the some of the many ways systemic racism manifest.
Durante un tiempo en el que muchas organizaciones han hecho fuertes declaraciones como respuesta a las continuas protestas contra la matanza de George Floyd, hay quienes piden más acción que una declaración. Fanny Guadalupe Blauer, Miembro de la Mesa Directiva para Artes de México en Utah, y Encargada de Asuntos Comunitarios y Contadora para el Museo de Historia Natural de Utah junto con Vicky Lowe, Artista y Educadora nos acompañan para discutir algunos de las realidades socioculturales y los retos que existen en erradicar los prejuicios, el racismo, y la brutalidad policial incluyendo el tener un mejor entendimiento historico y cultural de toda nuestra ancestría indigena, el familiarizarnos con la historia de este país con respecto a la opresión de minorias, y algunas de las maneras que el racismo institucional se manifiesta.
