Ann Romney Touts Traditional Values To Utah Grads

CEDAR CITY, UTAH (AP) - Ann Romney touted traditional values in a commencement address at Southern Utah University, urging graduates to live a "purpose-driven life" and to embrace the challenge of parenthood.

The wife of former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and mother of five sons spoke to nearly 1,800 graduates on Friday.

She says young people too often delay parenthood because they think they can't both have a career and a family.

But she urged the graduates to "make time to be a parent," saying it will teach how to "truly serve others and work for something and someone" else.

Romeny also urged graduates to turn to the Bible for wisdom and to maintain friendships with college classmates.

She was awarded an honorary doctorate for public service before delivering the address.
