Car Crash, Smashed Pumpkins On Summit County Sheriff's Report

Summit County Sheriff’s Office saw a few strange cases recently including a pedestrian hit at Tanger Outlets, A phantom car crash and pumpkin smashing in Hoytsville. 

On Wednesday, Summit County Sheriff’s Department received reports of single-car crash with the driver nowhere to be found. A brand-new black Nissan GTR Alpha crashed through two decorative metal walls. When the sheriff’s department arrived the car was locked, and the new car had no owner information available. The car and the fence had substantial damage and the car was impounded.

On Wednesday night some mischievous behavior was reported in Hoytsville. A man called dispatch to report pumpkins smashed on his road and mailbox. The pumpkins were strewn all along West and South Hoytsville road with several garbage cans knocked over as well. The man reported that the suspects were driving newer model mini van with LED headlights. They occupants of the van also reportedly threw herbicide at the complainant’s mailbox.

On Thursday a pedestrian was hit by a car while in a crosswalk at Tanger outlets. Witnesses said the car was moving very slowly but it did hit the victim. The river said she saw the victim on the sidewalk but did not see her crossing until she was in front of the car. The woman that was hit was alert and transported to a hospital for a medical evaluation.
