Summit County Sheriff's Department Encounters Trio Of Grinch Imitators

On Monday Summit County Sheriff’s department received a report that a 12-foot blue spruce was stolen from a job site on North Forestdale Drive. The person who reported the stolen tree said it was taken some time over the Thanksgiving weekend, the victim also estimated the tree was valued between $600-$700. The sheriff’s department believes that someone cut the tree from its roots to use as a Christmas tree.

On Monday night the sheriff’s department pulled over a Kamas man who was driving 93 mph in a 65-mph zone. 31-year-old Stuart Willey was stopped by deputies while traveling on SR 248. Deputies found that Willey had an active warrant out for his arrest in Wasatch County, he was arrested and booked into jail for both the warrant and speeding.

And finally, on Tuesday night Summit County deputies arrested a 23-year-old West Valley man on six charges including Assault on a Police Officer. Deputies reported to a Newpark parking lot after reports of a medical issue. They found Omar Altamirano laying face down when officer checked on him, the man got up and assaulted his girlfriend, younger brother and his brother’s girlfriend, he also threw punches at deputies who tased him. Altamirano was taken do a hospital for evaluation and then arrested once he cleared.
