Provo Canyon reopens to traffic after avalanche slide

A snow slide in Provo Canyon Friday afternoon shut down Highway 189 in both directions.

Update 7am: Highway 189 is now open in both directions.

Around 4:30 p.m. Friday, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) said Highway 189 will be closed in both directions for at least 24 hours.

UDOT was doing controlled avalanche work in the area between Vivian and Canyon Glen Parks Friday afternoon.
