Among the incidents on the Summit County Sheriff’s watch log include a manager stealing from her own store and a bizarre encounter at the Kimball Junction Subway.
On February 12th a 55-year-old Coalville woman was arrested by the sheriff’s department for two felony charges of theft. Lora Hamilton a floor manager of a clothing store at the Tanger Outlets is accused of stealing seven different deposits for a total amount of more than $7,900. An investigation by law enforcement recovered five of the missing deposit bags from Hamilton. Two of the five were missing the bulk cash.
On Valentine’s Day a man’s actions at a Subway were the subject of a complaint to the Summit County Sheriff’s department. An unidentified Hispanic man in his 30’s was at the Subway when he approached the counter and pulled a large kitchen knife out of his coat pocket and placed it on the counter. The man made no threats or gestures with the knife but did ask to buy a single cookie which he over paid for by several dollars. The Subway employee then went to the back and locker herself in a bathroom. When a fellow Subway employee arrived, he found the man pacing the store. The man who purchased the cookie then left after the arriving employee went to check on the woman locked in the bathroom. Deputies arrived on the scene but were unable to locate the man. The employee said that the unknown man had come into the store a few days before around the same time of day and also purchased a single cookie.
