The Park City Police Department released a video showing the smash and grab theft from a Main Street Jewelry store that occurred last week. The video is posted on KPCW.org along with photos of the stolen jewelry. Carolyn Murray has this:
At about 4:40 am on April 27th, Park City Jewelers at 430 Main Street in Park City was burglarized. The display window was smashed, and the contents taken. A surveillance video outside the jewelry store captured the burglary. It shows the perpetrator, smashing the window and collecting the contents into a bag.  The video runs for one minute and 21 seconds.

The individual is wearing a black long sleeve shirt, black pants, black shoes, black gloves, and a large hooded mask covering the head and face. A hammer was used to break the glass.  The video shows one individual hurriedly collecting merchandise from the window display and the ground, as the jewelry appears to have fallen on the sidewalk nearby.

Park City Police Captain Phil Kirk told KPCW it was odd how the perpetrator started to run off but then returned to pick up more items from the sidewalk.

Kirk says this type of crime hasn’t occurred on Main Street since he’s been with the force, at least 15 years.

The Police Department requests assistance in identifying and locating the individual in the video.

“Yeah, or that clothing they are wearing, or the hammer that they’re using or the method you know using that little hammer to break the glass.  The other possibility is that we're checking all kinds of different websites to see if the suspect or suspects are trying to sell this stolen merchandise either social media or KSl.com or pawn shops.”

The video and photos are posted on KPCW.org. If you have any information, contact PCPD Detective Stuart Rollins at 435-615-5535 or email at stuart.rollins@parkcity.org .
