Utah House Representative, Tim Quinn

As we reported, State Rep. Tim Quinn, who isn’t running for re-election, says he will not endorse a Republican candidate to replace him in his District #54 seat.

However, there’s another race where he is willing to praise several of the current contenders.

The race for Utah Governor is open, with the retirement of Gary Herbert.

Rep. Quinn said he can feel good about several candidates, including one who is a former Governor.

“I really like Greg Hughes and the way he fights for what he believes in and fights for those that he serves.  I was fortunate to serve under Greg as the Speaker of the House my first two years.  And there were times I knew he disagreed with some of us on policy.   But he stood right there beside us and fought with us as one of his colleagues.  I think Thomas Wright has some great ideas.  I love his running mate, Rob Bishop.  I think former Governor Huntsman—as far as tax policy goes, I disagree with him on some social issues but—tax policy, I think he understands it well, and would serve us well in that regard.  Jeff Burningham, kind of an independent businessman, has a streak about him that I appreciate of, what I was mentioning earlier to you about honesty and integrity.”

Outgoing House Rep. Tim Quinn.
