The East Fork Fire north of Hanna is now 20% contained. The U.S. Forest Service reported as of Saturday the fire has burned just over 4,000 acres in the Uinta Mountains.

The fire was started by a lightning strike just north of the Upper Stillwater Reservoir in the Rock Creek drainage area on August 21st. There are currently two helicopters, three engines, one hotshot crew, one wildland fire module, and 78 firefighters assigned to battle the East Fork Fire.

Area closures are in place in the High Uintas Wilderness Area for firefighter and public safety. The public will not be allowed to access the Upper Stillwater Reservoir and the surrounding area while firefighting efforts are underway.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the area from noon on Saturday to 9pm Monday night. A Red Flag Warning indicates weather conditions with warm temperatures, strong winds, and low relative humidity. This will contribute to extreme fire behavior.
