Summit and Wasatch Counties Continue to See High COVID-19 Daily Case Numbers

  Earlier this week Wasatch County saw it’s highest number of daily COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

 

 

 

On Sunday, Wasatch County reported 25 new COVID-19 cases, breaking the previous record of 21 new cases earlier this month. Tuesday, the county’s health district reported another 16 new cases. 

Summit County saw 19 new cases Tuesday. Last week they reported 29 new cases in one day, which is the county's second highest number of new daily cases.  

The 7-day rolling average for positive test results in Wasatch County is 12.7%. And in Summit County the average is 16.5%. Both counties have lower averages than the state’s which is 17.4%. 

Summit and Wasatch Counties have not reported any new deaths in the past week. Summit County has seen one COVID-19 related death since the start of the pandemic and Wasatch County has reported nine. 

Both counties are in the high transmission risk level of Utah’s COVID-19 Index. This means residents must wear masks in public spaces, like stores and restaurants. Social gatherings are also restricted to less than 10 people.
