Wednesday COVID-19 Update: More than 2,600 Cases Statewide, 45 in Summit County, 40 in Wasatch

After a lull in cases over the holiday weekend, Utah saw 2,614 new cases Wednesday - which is almost the same amount of cases the state saw last Wednesday.

 

  

Summit County saw 45 new cases, and in comparison, last Wednesday Summit reported 35 new cases.

Wasatch County reported 40 new cases. Last Wednesday the county saw 39.

Utah’s Department of Health reported 21 new deaths Wednesday. To date, 1,256 Utahns have died of the disease, including five from Summit County and 15 from Wasatch County.

The state saw an increase of 9,139 new tests administered. The statewide 7-day rolling average for positive tests 25% which is just over Tuesday’s average.

Summit County’s seven-day average of positive laboratory tests is 18%, and nearly 24% of tests are coming back positive on average in Wasatch County. 

Utah’s Department of Health reported 110 new hospitalizations. There are 484people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Statewide, over 85% of referral center ICU beds are in use, which is up from Tuesday. 

3,553 people were vaccinated for COVID-19 since Tuesday, bringing the total number close to 24,000 first doses administered. The state has received more than 125,000 doses of vaccines.
