The Heber City Planning Commission is convening on Tuesday evening during their regular planning meeting on an amendment to the city's annexation policy. The meeting is being held virtually at 6 p.m. and the public can participate via Zoom.

The annexation policy plan change includes an area north of Heber at the River Road and U.S. 40 intersection. According to Heber City Mayor Kelleen Potter, the property is zoned for resort density development on the southwest corner.

“The council has initiated the steps to take that out of our annexation policy plan, which would prohibit those people who own that property to apply for annexation into our city," Potter said.

She said the City Council members have differing opinions regarding this property annexation and hope to hear from the public.

“Some council members believe it should be in Heber City because if it's going to be developed, they believe it should be part of the city as it will be on our border and it will impact our city,” she said. “But we will receive no revenues. There are other council members who don't want to have anything to do with it and say we need to take this out of our policy plan and not allow it to annex into Heber City.”
