In Heber City meetings today, council members and city planners will discuss a possible recreation, arts and parks tax along with some new developments.
Heber City Council will hold a work meeting at 5:00 at City Hall, followed by a regular council meeting.
In the work meeting, City Planner Tony Kohler will present an agreement for a development called Highlands. It would bring single-family homes and townhomes to land around the Utah Valley University Wasatch campus.
In the regular meeting, the council will consider preliminary approval of a 20-acre subdivision.
The Meadows at South Field would build a neighborhood in southeastern Heber City. The proposed site for more than 40 houses is at 460 South 1200 West, just south of another empty lot where the council just approved new senior housing.
The city will also consider a petition from the school district to annex just under 50 acres of land into the city. It’s currently owned by the district and private owners.
Also on the agenda is whether the city should enter into an interlocal agreement with Midway and Wasatch County. The agreement would be over the levying of a recreation, arts and parks tax. The so-called RAP tax will be up to Wasatch County voters in November to adopt.
Acting as the community reinvestment agency board, the council will discuss whether to enter into an agreement to use tax-increment funding.
Also in the meeting, Jonelle Fitzgerald of the Wasatch County Health Department will present an annual report and COVID-19 update.
