Herbert Named Vice Chair Of Governor's Group

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah Gov. Gary Herbert has been selected by his fellow governors as vice chair of the National Governors Association.

The Republican Governor was chosen at the association summer meeting, which ended Sunday in Nashville, Tennessee.

Herbert, in a statement, said he intends to work with governors to enhance the role of states in a wide range of policies.

Herbert will serve as vice chair as the association's annual meeting in the summer of 2015. At that time, he will become chair through the summer of 2016.

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, a Democrat, will serve as chair for the next year. The chair position rotates annually between the two major political parties.
