Doug and Larry's first guest is Tobie Stanger who is senior editor for  Consumer  Reports.  Seniors and their families lose billions of dollars each year to fraud. Financial elder abuse is rising fast.  Estimates of the crime’s frequency vary. A 2010 survey of seniors by the nonprofit Investor Protection Trust projected that 1 in 5 seniors had been taken advantage of financially.  In the second segment, Dana and Mark Gaunt of Vacation Lockers talk about Vacation Lockers.  The idea for this business came about after numerous people asked  if there was any place in the Park City area that would store their ski gear and equipment until they returned next month or until next season. The final guest on the program was AshaParekh, Refugee Direct Services Manager, Refugee Education and Training Center. Refugees earn far below the average Utah wage — needing to earn at least $16 per hour to pay rent and other basic costs to be self-sustaining. The newly opened Refugee Education and Training Center, a partnership between Salt Lake Community College, Utah State University and Department of Workforce Services, will bridge the gap between a refugee’s initial job and the skills and training needed to earn a wage that will sufficiently provide for themselves and their family.
