Faced with significant public interest in the proposal to build a new neighborhood at Kimball Junction, Summit County has been looking for a location in the Snyderville Basin that can accommodate a sizable crowd.
Officials announced Friday the county had rented “the largest conference venue in Kimball Junction.”
The public input session is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, at the Newpark Hotel Conference Center, 1476 Newpark Blvd.
County councilors said they’d need a bigger space than the council chambers at the Richins Building, which can accommodate about 100 people.
About 150 people attended Wednesday’s discussion either virtually or in person, even though members of the public weren’t allowed to comment about the project.
Developer Dakota Pacific Real Estate is proposing to build 1,100 homes at Kimball Junction, along with a hotel and office space. Detractors, who have been vocal and numerous, say there is little upside to the project. Proponents say it will increase the chances that the state will undertake expensive construction projects necessary to fix traffic issues at the congested entry to the Park City area.
