In order to meet the city's goals, changes to the LMC will be proposed in the first quarter of 2017.

Staff told the Park City Planning Commissioners last week that they will be proposing some changes to the Land Management Code in the first quarter of 2017.  Planning Director Bruce Erickson said the areas of change that will be affected are affordable housing, transportation and energy.

“The city is moving forward affirmatively with trying to meet these goals," Erickson said. "And the community development team and the sustainability team are working together to make changes directly in the code that affect our quality of life.”

While the Planning Commission doesn’t make policy – staff does come to them for approval of these changes before they are presented to council.

In the past, applicants have not followed through with building the affordable housing they were contracted to and Commissioner Preston Campbell said that is not acceptable.

"We’re absolutely moving in the direction of, ‘You won’t be able to finalize your plan of your regular development until your affordable housing component is built first,'” Campbell said.

Changes to the LMC are not uncommon. Changes to the General Plan, however, only happen every few years.
