High Winds Cause Fire, Power Outages

 Wild weather hit the Park City area Friday afternoon.  High winds downed power lines, causing electricity outages and a wildfire in Summit County.  According to Paul Hewitt, Park City Fire District Chief, a fire burned between two and three acres east of Interstate 40 and North of Interstate 248.  No one was injured and no structures were threatened. The nearest development is Black Rock near Browns Canyon, which is about a half mile away.  Hewitt says the fire started near a power pole.  Despite high winds, firefighters controlled the blaze within thirty minutes.  According to Summit County, high winds tripped circuit breakers in Coalville, causing 1,700 customers to lose power.  Service is now restored to those customers.  The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City reports wind gusts of 55 mph at Deer Valley.   Winds should drop off significantly by Friday evening.
