No-Show Jurors Explain Themselves

A Third District Court judge held a hearing Thursday for 31 Summit County residents so they could explain why they were no-shows for jury duty in December.  The case had to be moved to Salt Lake City because of the lack of potential jurors.

Judge Kent Holmberg heard from each person individually, and in several cases he sentenced people to a day of community service.  But Summit County Attorney Margaret Olson said in general it appears a "series of unfortunate events" led to an unusual number of people failing to appear.  Rick Brough has more:
