Park City Superintendent Is Semifinalist For Top School Job In Helena, Montana

Park City Superintendent of Schools Ember Conley was not previewing Thursday’s school board meeting on the airwaves this morning.  Instead, she was on her way to Helena, Montana, to interview Tuesday afternoon as one of the six semifinalists for that district’s open superintendent position.

Conley resigned her local position last December, effective June 30.

The Helena school board released a list of the semifinalists on Friday. Following all six interviews, the board will narrow the field to three finalists.

The Helena school board received 19 applications for the position following a nationwide search. The school board says it will not release the resumes of the semifinalists because the board hired a national firm to conduct the search process.

The Helena Independent Record notes a report from a Park Record article that said Conley was leaving the Park City School District because of the attacks on her leadership and communication abilities.  Conley told KPCW she wanted to wait to comment until the process is complete.

Other semifinalists for the job in Helena include current and former superintendents from Flagstaff, Arizona; Whidbey Island, Washington; and Houston; as well as two local candidates who serve as an elementary school principal and assistant superintendent.
