The case of Evanston resident Charles Ryan Hendricks, charged with attempted murder of a stranger last spring at a convenience store near the Mirror Lake Highway, is still pending in Third District Court.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys are continuing to look at medical evaluations of the defendant.
The 45-year-old defendant was arrested last April, after the unprovoked stabbing of a customer at the Bear River Service store.
The county’s charging documents said that Hendricks was yelling that his victim was Satan.
In July, his public defender, Paul Quinlan, filed notice that his client would claim a defense of diminished mental capacity.
On Monday, Quinlan told Judge Patrick Corum that two medical reviews, by separate evaluators, have been done on Hendricks.
Deputy Prosecutor Blake Hills said they are soliciting a third examiner to interview the defendant.
Hills told KPCW that doesn’t mean he’s critical of the two prior examinations. They just want to obtain further information.
Hendricks is confined in the Summit County Jail. The case has been continued until a Roll Call on December 3rd.
