"Green Heart" of the Basin Saved

Summit Land Conservancy

The Summit Land Conservancy announced Monday afternoon it has completed its fundraising campaign to save the 158-acre Osguthorpe Farm located off Old Ranch Road.  The Conservancy, a nonprofit dedicated to saving land in Summit County, faced a March 31st deadline to raise $5.6 million to leverage federal funding.

In 2017, the land trust announced a $17,856,000 agreement to preserve the land.  A federal grant provided $8.8 million and the Osguthorpe family donated $3.9 million.  Summit County approved a $500,000 grant towards the purchase, and the Conservancy raised the rest of the funds needed.  $4.5 million came from more than 1100 individual donors.  The land trust says it received gifts from local children, Park City residents, second homeowners, Old Ranch Road neighbors, family foundations and individuals from all across the country.

Summit Land Conservancy Executive Director Cheryl Fox will be on The Local News Hour with Leslie Thatcher Tuesday, March 27, at 8:10am to talk about how the land trust saved the Osguthorpe Farm.
