Summit County

As we reported, Summit County is moving ahead toward electric cars.

Council member Kim Carson talked to us Thursday, noting that they have opened 12 new electric charging stations, mostly in the east side areas of Coalville and Kamas, for a total of 27.

Carson lives in Silver Creek and drives a hybrid car. So, she’s happy to hear about more charging stations coming to the county.

“I do live in an area that's not served by transit,” Carson continued. “So, I am in my car more than others might be that have access to a bus route. So, I'm glad that I'm able to drive a clean vehicle. The general public is able to use the ones at our different County facilities if they are there on County related business. We also in June were able to add five level two charging stations at the Ecker Hill park and ride. Which is a great benefit if people want to park there.”

Carson added that by 2020, they hope to add more installations at the Richins Services Building, plus other installations at the Justice Center, and chargers at the park n rides located at Kamas and Jeremy Ranch.
